Question
Fellow Teens Are you disappointed by the fiction being published for our age group?
Let me start with Twilight. So many of my friends ADORE it...
Answer
Sadly, I have to admit Im a teenage girl and as of right now, most teen novels are being aimed toward the female audience.brbrThis is because theyre more vulnerable. You say the words he had abs and girls will be all over it placing themselves in the girls shoes.brbrI can seriously see why most teenage novels are published. Money. Writing isnt an art to these authors, its a beneficial green gimmick.brbrHonestly, teenagers are extremely vulnerable. Most dont realize how badly written a book actually is, only because theyre awestruck by the muscly, fareskinned vampire man, or the busty blonde with full lips.brbrIn reality, those are porn stars.brbrIm actually embarrassed to say Im a teenage female due to the Edward and Jacob hype. For the last time, Im quotteam tree in the backgroundquot because its the only living thing with talent in that series.brbrIm grateful teens have taken up reading and writing but it gets on my nerves when theyre all over books known for being a catastrophe bad grammar, and a predictable plot. brbrI personally love to help people with their writings but almost every question I open its, quotMy vampirequot or quotMy werewolfquot blah blah blah.brbrSome books have completely ruined the youths creativity.brbrHow hard is it to create a beast of your own?brbrLet me try head of a squirrel, tail of a skunk, bat wings, cant fly, eats bugs. Ill call it Babble.brOMG, What is this!? A new creature and it took seconds! Impossible!brbrIts great they love reading and writing but for the love of literature as we once knew it, GET CREATIVE!brbrThis is almost exactly why I digress Fan Fiction. Rewriting stories.... How does that benefit you?brActually practice and make something that could be worth a bit and valuable.brbrI get frustrated opening questions like, quotHelp with my book, quot and inside it starts out, quotOkay, my main character is a vampire.quotbrbrLet the vampire folklore take a break. Read a book WORTH reading like quotCaponequot. Build a vocabulary from a book other than Twilight or else prepare to think the word Grim means happy.brbrDbrbrIts good they read and write but at least try to be independent in what you favor.
